In-House Leadership

Based on his work at Motorola, Firasat became intimately familiar with the inner workings of in-house operations. 


Uniquely combined with his law firm experience, Firasatâ's unparallel insights into in-house functions, and the interplay between in-house and outside counsel, has proven invaluable to clients, especially in situations where a deep understanding of company's business is necessary in developing appropriate legal theories. 


He has formed and led several patent committees and advised executives on patent strategy.

Patent Prosecution

Firasat as prosecuted several patents both in United States and Foreign Countries. He has successfully conducted examiner interviews and obtained patents for start-ups to large corporations. His patent experience includes:

 

Prosecuted patents, developed patent roadmaps and patenting strategies, minned patentable ideas, assisted engineers in writing disclosures, and made patent portfolio management decisions while serving as a member of the Motorola Patent Committee.


Provided business and licensing advice and strategic direction to Motorola's senior and executive management and worked closely with them to develop a technology vision 


Taught several courses on patent law and Motorola's disclosure/patenting strategy to engineers 


Developed and integrated patenting policies and procedures with engineering design cycle for new products.


Managed IP due diligence investigations during mergers & acquisitions.

Trademark Work

Firasat has helped several startups with their branding and trademark needs. He has also defended trademark infringement allegations.
